Hosting Spin Jam

Hello all you wonderful movers and shakers!

There will be no Spin Jam for two more weeks unless someone steps up to host it. So far the only one to do so has been Pi. You know what it takes to make Spin Jam happen...you want it to happen...so make it happen! If I can get a ride there, I'll make it happen, but I have to leave around 11pm, so unless we end it early, I'd need someone else to stay later and wrap it up. Let's do this!

Responsibilities (off the top of my head):
- Promoting it to make sure people show up
- Putting out the money jar and signs, and making sure that our rent of $75 is reached
- Putting out a sheet to collect email addresses for the mailing list
- Arranging for music (having a DJ come in with equipment, or hooking up an iPod)
- Taking responsibility for the money, making sure everything's clean, and locking up

See, it's not hard. Anyone willing to step up to host next week's (or to give me a ride - from the Potrero area - so I can do it)?

I believe Andres and Amy are fine with hosting the 2nd & 4th Saturdays. I'm talking about making Spin Jam happen MORE often...like weekly again.

I will have to put more thought into that. Maybe if we could arrange a rotating schedule if more people want to host.

sad to see that SJ is not as active as it used to be, but good to know that u guys are picking it up.

I can spin there sometime if you guys need help...I spin trance or ethno-techno-breaks type stuff and have spun there 4-5 times. Msg. me or ask Andres to email me. Some scheduling fyi.: I have my own party at the Supperclub on 1st and 3rd Thursdays.

          Good luck.

I'm totally up for playing host but won't be able to host (or even attend) a Spin Jam till after the New Year. Doesn't help much for December, I realize, but I just wanted to post this for the record.

I am a little scared what people will think of my music though. Or maybe it's you who will be scared. : -)

Who wants to spin to DC Talk? Or Dolly?

Actually, I might spin to Dolly.

I'd be willing to host the week before Xmas - if someone can help out with some wheels.

No worries, Eunice, I would not subject our lovely community to my Christian rock fetish ;-p

Dolly, on the other hand, is another matter entirely.

I heard back from Andres. He said that Jamie is taking it upon herself to organize who hosts, etc. I don't know if either of them reads this tribe, so I passed on the names of those of you who have volunteered to host. Thank you guys for stepping up - hopefully we'll have Spin Jam back on a weekly schedule soon!

I'm going to stake my claim for Dec 14th (as it's a week away)
    - Promoting it to make sure people show up *Check, will work on that!
    - Putting out the money jar and signs, and making sure that our rent of $75 is reached *Can do! with a small modification.

Small mod here: I'm big on helping out in the winter, so I'm willing to accept donations of food (2 cans or more), blankets (atleast 1 warm blanket, imagine if you had to spend a night under it), or clothing,

    - Putting out a sheet to collect email addresses for the mailing list *Easy!
    - Arranging for music (having a DJ come in with equipment, or hooking up an iPod) *I need some help here or we're going to be stuck with my ipod....
    - Taking responsibility for the money, making sure everything's clean, and locking up *would be my first time, so I need to know what to lock up and where to clean up.
